"there should be at least a 50% chance of hitting your target with the wrong end." — I always figured there'd be better than 50% chance of hitting with the right
end (if it hits at all), because the blade of the sword extends so much further from the centre of gravity than the hilt. Does that make sense?
Agreed, if the sword's properly balanced then it's got a far higher chance of hitting with the blade than with the hilt. This is actually pretty clear if you look at the way a sword moves through the air when thrown. I don't know the actual chances though, so I won't change the 50% thing, despite it being bunk.
