For those who recall the first episode, Mr. Jelly believed the blackmail letter had come from Jolly... This initially seemed to be a case of mistaken identity, but in the final episode it transpired that Jelly was right and Jolly was the blackmailer after all; the "answer" to the series was thus given away, though subsequently obfuscated, in the pilot. It seems like there should be some sort of trope for this, but I can't think what it would be.
