BritBllt: Nuking this entry...

  • There's a nasty example in Chrono Trigger: at one point, you can help transform a barren desert back into a lush forest. Unfortunately, this provides the nearby country of Porre with enough resources that they end up waging a war on Guardia shortly after the game ends, resulting in the heroes' homeland being destroyed and their Sudden Sequel Death Syndrome for Chrono Cross.

Because it's a fan theory. Not a bad one, but the only thing we know canonically is that Porre became an enemy after Chrono Trigger, and (thanks to the DS version) that Dalton probably had something to do with it. Nothing ever connects that to Fiona's forest, and it's not even necessary to complete that sidequest. The trope could be used to describe Chrono Cross's whole existence (the heroes saved the world from Lavos and now they're all dead), but that might be mixing things up with Sequel Escalation and Sorting Algorithm of Evil.
