Would Samurai Jack's robots fit under this category? They often explode after Jack slashes them.

No Troper Tales page so how about this: Why do the protagonists in the Bubble Bobble series when they die with eyes stuck out by a literal black line always poof away in sparkly magic fairy dust? If I had my way, I'd have them blow up. With nothing left behind. That's what the original game's "poofs" suggest to me.
