[1]: I think the Merlin example is disputable, since there HAVE been dragons in Arthurian legend, or at least the legends connected to Merlin, which must count at least partly. FYI, two dragons (one representing the Britons, the other the Saxons) was a pretty big thing in Merlin's origin.

Daibhid C: Not to mention the dragon who appeared in the sky as a symbol that it was Uther's destiny to rule. And even if there weren't, the dragon is a pretty significant part of this version of the story. Pulling it.
