  • It is easy for 24 fans to think that their show invented the serialized format. But in fact, they were other shows that stretched storylines across whole seasons. One example is Murder One and Twin Peaks.

I can't believe that any significant number of people think that 24 "invented the serialized format." Serialized television shows with continuing storylines have been around for decades. Soap operas would be the most obvious example. If the fans are talking about the minute-by-minute continuity of 24, then they might be right. Muder One and Twin Peaks did not beat it to that punch.
