[[redirect:ptitlezbs18uz6sqwwDiscussion]] Silent Hunter: Is anyone else finding they're having this at least once a day when they're watching TV?

Idle Dandy: Oh yeah. I don't even try to identify them anymore. I just say, "Oh, he's a 'Hey It's That Guy.'" See also: http://www.fametracker.com/hey_its_that_guy/

Ununnilium: I don't know if it's so easy to identify voice actors. Certainly, I've heard Phil LaMarr in many different roles, and never connected them until I found out it was the same guy.

Seven Seals: It does depend on the voice actor, their range, the number of things you've heard them in, and last but not least how much attention you're paying to recognizing them. For example, I can pick out Jennifer Hale no matter what role she's playing, but that's because I pay special attention to spotting her. Of course, by then you've already passed the point of Hey Its That Guy. People like Frank Welker are much harder to spot consistently, because they have an enormous range. You get a Hey Its That Guy only when they reuse a voice.

HeartBurn Kid: I'd say Keith David is a definite Hey Its That Guy. I can ALWAYS pick out that deep, slightly-growly-yet-very-articulate voice no matter where I hear it.

Ununnilium:

When watching anime or playing a video game with a Japanese dialogue track, one might think "Hey! It's that voice actor/actress!" To name just a few, Megumi Hayashibara, Tomokazu Seki, Aya Hisakawa, Kikuko Inoue, Rica Matsumoto and Takehito Koyasu have each been cast in a lot of anime, and Takehito Koyasu's voice is especially recognizable.

On a related note to the previous paragraph, one can quickly begin to recognize certain voice actors in anime dubs; Funimation, in particular, uses the same people for almost every production. To name a few, Kirby Morrow, Christopher J. Sabat, Eric Stuart, Steven Jay Blum, Melissa Charles, Dorothy Elias-Fahn, and Wendee Lee all get more than their share of voicework. Replace Funimation with 4Kids, and it still holds true, with the likes of Dan Green, Matt Hoverman, Lisa Ortiz, and Rachael Lillis getting lots of roles.

On yet another related note, one can also recognize voice actors in American animation quite easily. To name a few, Tara Strong, Cree Summer, Frank Welker, Tress MacNeille, and Phil LaMarr all have substantial voice-acting resumes.

...took this all out and replaced it based on the above conversation.

Grev: I wonder if it wouldn't hurt to add a list of "famous" Hey Its That Guy examples, like the other guy in the David Spade Capitol One commercials, or the thick-headed guy in the A & W commercial, etc.
