Working Title: What Do You Mean Theyre Not Nazis: From YKTTW
Charred Knight: Since most people seemed to have lost interest in it, I launched it using Zephid's suggested name.
"
Ironically, the vampires in Carpe Jugulum are also organized racists ("The trolls are stupid, the dwarfs are devious, the pixies are evil and the gnomes stick in your teeth"), but less military about it. ". It's a little misleading, as the vampires in Carpe Jugulum are not typical Vampires. It's specifically stated somewhere that "[Vampires] didn't think as a species". They lack organisation and nationalism.
Daibhid C: I don't think it's that misleading; Wolf and his followers aren't typical werewolves either. It's not saying Discworld vampires in general are either organised or racist, just that the ones in this book are.
I Blame Communism: I have removed a footnote from the Real life "Germans can't get away with nuffin'" example repeating how the nazis stole symbolism from earlier movements and people. Of course it's true, but its misleading in this conext since the Nazis clearly didn't steal from most of German history. One cannot possibly claim the the gay Frederick the Great or the liberal Luetzow Freikorps "inspired the Nazis" unless one believes the re-interpretations of them popularised by, ironically enough, the Nazis. To do so is to imply exactly what the example is working against: "German history was a long dress-rehearsal for the Hitlerian destiny". It also makes the factual untrue statement that Germans were "used to strong leaders". "Idealised it at a cultural level", sure, but a young Nazi supporter wouldn't remember anyone stronger than gustav Stresemann.

- More subtly, Zeon soldiers and mobile suits used a lot of lookalikes of WWII era weapons and uniforms.
- To be perfectly fair, Gihren is the only Zeon noble who is pure evil; the rest fit My Country, Right or Wrong almost to a tee.
- Due to the Misaimed Fandom of people actually supporting the Zeon, Tomino made the Titans the SS IN SPACE!! They become a bunch of psychos for hire who will gas an entire colony at the drop of a hat.
- However, the Titans were (technically) working for The Federation that Zeon was rebelling against in the first place, confusing the issue somewhat further and hardening the resolve of the Zeon fanboys. The real message, though, is that in the Universal Century, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts into Nazis, whether you're based on Earth or IN SPACE.
- Gundam SEED spices it up by having Blue Cosmos, and LOGOS be the force behind the Atlantic Federation (the most powerful group within the Earth Alliance) when the Atlantic Federation begans control of the Earth Alliance, the war becomes a war to annihilate the Coordinators. Their opponent the PLANTS are not much better as Patrick Zala believes in the extermination of all Naturals, and both sides freely began massacring any surviving enemy. With the results being defections on both sides joining ORB.
Natter
- While this may be a matter of pronunciation, when his supporters say ''All Hail Lelouch it certainly sounds like they are saying "heil" rather than "hail".
- Considering that the English "hail" and the German "heil" are cognate words, this isn't so surprising.
I didn't get that.
- AMV Hell 4 went right ahead and set a scene of him giving a speech to Hilter's "Speech for the Youth".
- Hitler himself got a cameo in the movie and folks trying to gain his favour serve as the bad guys. Ofcourse this was set right before his utterly failed revolution attempt (as opposed to his eventual democratic election into dictatorship).
Not really relevant now, is it?
- Subverted in later years when the Empire become good guys, albeit with strong militaristic overtones. It is especially subverted in the Legacy comics, which take 140 years after Return of the Jedi, that has the Sith Empire fighting against the arguably good true Emperor Fel, who has his own loyal Jedi.
- Like in the 1950s, when the US rearmed West Germany to keep the military balance in Europe, and they swiftly became among the top NATO allies?
Irrelevant natter.
I can has explanation plz?
- In the show Avatar the Last Airbender, the Fire Nation shows examples of this trope. Especially considering Zhao's speech calling fire "the superior element"
- Appropriately, there are also echoes of fascist Japan (notably a possible Shout-Out to the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere).
- Also China, considering the Air Nomads' culture bears a close resemblence to Tibet.
- While we're at it, throw in Genghis Khan's Mongolian Empire and the Golden Horde. They conquered nearly all of Eurasia, much like how the Fire Nation was trying to dominate the world. Some Fire Nation squadrons like the Rough Rhinos most closely resemble Mongolians.
- Rather than being any specific example, the Fire Nation is more likely meant to be an amalgamation of Japan, China, and Mongolia with subtle overtones of Nazi Germany.
Not an example. The Fire Nation is based on Imperial Japan, and just happens to have a few things in common with Nazi Germany.
