I got Constantine in 7 tickets and a multi. I just had a terrible 2 hours so I'll just take that as compensation. Mori Mori and Charlie next. I have about almost 60 multis (well technically its way less because I need to leave over one full pity for Takasugi next year) so I'll probably try and go like 11 on each banner

I tried rolling for Cleopatra and got Xuanzang on my thirteenth ticket instead, which I'm totally satisfied with: She's better, fulfills a niche I needed satisfied and I like her at least as much.

But I don't have mats to get her past 60 unfortunately. No pages either and I'm sure she needs those.

It's funny because we don't even summon Super Bunyan at the end of the event. She is just left wandering on her own volition.

I have to almost respect the audacity to put the obligatory "please summon me" scene for a character as unlikable as Super Bunyan, I feel like she benefits more from having no context for her personality because she's actually one of Riyo's cutest servants design wise.

Super Bunyan’s incompetence would be at the very least somewhat acceptable if she actually produced movies worth a damn. But everything she makes is a parody of a movie (not necessarily parodies, but rather, so bad that they’re practically parodies of the concept of movies) rather than something I’d watch, so I think it’s safe to throw her work into the trash.

Super Bunyan refusing to use Anning’s real name even when she explicitly requests that others call her by her True Name just makes her more of an asshole. Of course the woman who wasn’t given enough attention in life would want to feel accomplished and recognized as a Servant. It’s definitely not comparable, but it almost comes off like deadnaming a trans person.

Hindsight and all that, but I think that the event may have been better received if Bunyan had been presented from the outset as a villain, and that Mary Anning was the one fighting her but also might be too prideful to ask for our help. The Dairokuten then seem to be Bunyan's minions but also try to help us and Mary as much as they can. Then as we get deeper we find out that for as much as Bunyan has portrayed herself as villainous, she's been clandestinely aiding all the places she's attacked, and made sure that people haven't been hurt, etc.

The climax is when we confront her and learn that she wanted to give herself a bad name over the guilt she felt in the role she/her legend played in and have Anning win, same as in the actual event.

Oh and don't bother including Mike Fink, because his inclusion was genuinely pointless.

Honestly, even Bunyan acting antagonistic and like an asshole because she wants to be villainized for her Thanatos Gambit would’ve been better. What we end up having instead is her agency being stolen by Mike for some fucking reason. I like how she tries to summon Berserker Bunyan when things don’t go as planned, but it would’ve been better if it was Berserker Bunyan bolstered by the hatred of Bunyan’s movies as well as the frustration that everyone had from working with her. Sure, she’d still be an asshole, but at least it would show that her statues and weak attempts to fix things didn’t repair the working relationships that she ruined. And if Mike wasn’t the voice encouraging her awful management, she would’ve at least have the consequences of her actions reflect back onto herself.

The story gives you every reason to hate her only to pull the rug out from under you with the claim that she was doing all of this as a roundabout way of killing herself, and it goes a step further to absolve her of her behavior through Mike. So what meaningful character development does Super Bunyan get besides not wanting to go through with her Thanatos Gambit by the end of the story? It definitely isn’t learning to treat her employees well.

Why does Bunyan leave out the oppression of Native Americans when talking about why she should be seen as a villain. No discussion about the destruction of the natural world should go without at least a mention of the subjugation of indigenous peoples.

There's an entire paragraph where it's stated Flat Snark has reigned triumphant over its opponents for centuries when let out, Alice wanted to put it back in the vial for further use after Aoko won the game, and Touko explicitly says she's lucky Alice no longer has it as a trump card when they're fighting.

Apart from its terrible personality, it seems like the easiest to use of the Great Three. Alice can't use the Thames Troll properly, and Wandersnatch is indiscriminate in who it targets, and it does something to Alice when she uses it in FGO.

Finished the event.

I genuinely wanted to like Super Bunyan, even if I wasn’t going to pull for her (Charlie is my beloved and she was never going to last a second on my list of desires compared to her). But god, this event made her the worst. Admittedly, people made her out to be worse than she actually is, but what she is is so goddamn incompetent and frustrating to watch that I can’t help but want to sic Spartacus onto her.

This all would’ve been slightly more tolerable if the story had some variety to spice it up, but it doesn’t. It’s mostly repeating the exact same formula. Mary Anning confrontation -> Fight displeased employees -> Farm stages to get excavation tools and Bunyancoin -> Bunyan makes a stupid fucking statue -> repeat 5 or 6 times. It’s all so boring.

Well, the event turned out kind of weird? Bunyan's motivation was so shaky. Kinda felt like a reprise of her first event a bit?

Daikokuten was probably my favorite part, and I'm glad I summoned them.

JP Collab sounds pretty interesting. Aoko really is the one other person who can understand the kind of nonsense we have to deal with on daily basis. She'll be a good friend.

Did Atalante Alter appear in the event cutscenes at all? She's got a damage/bond bonus for the event and I have no idea why.

She's Mashu's servant in the Riyo comic I think?
