As a Ben 10 fan, something just hit me.
Original Scrappy:Brash Jerk with a Heart of Gold who travels with his friends on paranormal adventures and usually gets jobbed trying to fight the villain of the week.
Original Kevin:Sociopathic kid villain who becomes a literal monster from absorbing power, only appears once in a while.
Modern Scrappy: Sociopathic kid villain who becomes a literal monster from absorbing power, only appears once in a while.
Modern Kevin: Brash Jerk with a Heart of Gold who travels with his friends on paranormal adventures and usually gets jobbed trying to fight the villain of the week.
Scrappy is the reverse Kevin Levin!
"I am the lord of Purity, who tolerates no deviation." My first online storySo, I'm guessing season 2 wasn't much of an improvement?
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Yes. It has not improved.
Damn had to ruin this perfectly good post by realizing I answered wrongly to a negative question.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonOMG this just made me realize... oh wow.

Nooooooooo! C'mon, let's just let the series end with Velma dead at the hands of Scrappy-Doo, it'd be so much funnier.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonDeadline is reporting that Greg Berlanti is producing a live action Scooby series.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.But...didn't they just have a new Scooby Doo series in Velma? But then again, given how Velma is being regarded...
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!There's pretty much always multiple Scooby projects going on at once these days.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I mean, unless Velma unexpectedly gets renewed for a third season, there's no shot this and Velma would be airing at the same time. We found out about this now meaning we wouldn't be getting it until 2025 at the earliest.
Being developed at the same time, then.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah, they're pretty much putting them out one after the other.
I heard where one animator once said that animation in Hollywood has it's peaks and valleys, but you could always find work on a Scooby project, because Scooby projects are always getting made.
Aside from the big hiatus between 1991 and 1998 where aside from Arabian Nights, there weren't any new Scooby productions in that time frame.
I think the time has come to reimagine Scrappy-Doo. Move away from the Hate Sink he's become as of late and rework him to be less annoying and more nuanced.
I agree that it's time to rework Scrappy Doo to make him into a more likable character. There's only so much that people can handle in making a character a punching bag for decades. I mean, look at Aquaman. For years, he was the punching bag for the DC Universe and now, he's one of the most popular characters in the DC universe.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!It wouldn't even be particularly difficult these days.
The only reason they don't do it because the joke has basically become self sustaining - people are perpetuating it solely because it exists at this point.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. If they saw fit to salvage Flim-Flam of all characters as part of Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost, then they sure as heck can salvage Scrappy, too. I agree that it probably wouldn't even be that hard either. I had one idea some time ago that would have involved balancing a newer characterization for Scrappy with some sly wink-wink nudges toward his past hatedom, where he's portrayed as a friend of his Uncle Scooby and Shaggy like he was in the 80s, but maybe Fred, Daphne, and Velma find him a little annoying (but still don't straight-up hate him and know that he can be useful in the right situations).
Tbh, the idea of the whole gang all hating Scrappy never sat well with me and just felt like writers putting their own opinions on Scrappy into the gangs' mouths. It just felt out-of-character (especially for Shaggy and Scooby).

"Hey, gimme a minute to get to know everyone, 'kay, Brainy?" "Of course, but please allow me to get a word in, too, bzz."The movie had the caveat that he was actually like thirty or something, but it is really weird for Scooby do go "I hate my child nephew", that's very strange.
Yeah, the way that the movie handled Scrappy was really weird.

Also in the season, Fred's dad and Velma's mom get married
