Oh, they're making it stock? Oh boy, I wanna see the shitstorm over this!

Lack of one suprisingly, I think a lot of people missed the memo.

Then again a lot of the community seems to follow whatever squad does without complaint, and the only way remote-tech like stuff works is if there is lifesuport to provide an alternate weight.

Which is NOT being made stock still. :/

Wait, what is remotetech and why is it horrible?

Makes probes behave realisiticly, AKA limited signal range, and control delay.

It is NOT bad per say, but it adds complexity and makes probes even MORE useless unless lifesuport is added to maned craft to provide counterbalance.

Control delay? Fuck. That. Noise.

Signal range, I can deal with. Control delay, I cannot.

Probes would need a massive buff to compensate because that would make them almost entirely unusable. I already need a super high-end one to provide the same functionality as even a complete novice pilot.

I'm just uninstalling it now because it makes everything (too) difficult.

And that novice pilot does not need electricity.

If they do end up doing a life support thing, I hope it's more akin to Snacks! than something like USI that has 45 billion resources for you to juggle around. Also, is it normal for KAS ground pylons to detach from the ground and mess up a base?

I agree 100% I love snacks' approach, but I use another one that I cant remember what it was that is also 1 resource but the kerbals died without it, not a fan of just going on strike.

But yea, it should be easy to manage.

As for the question, it depends, what planet?

If we're still talking about the rescue, it's Duna. If it's about the kraken pylons, then it's Minmus. Also, I just got rid of Remote Tech because it made me honestly never use probes because of it.

I dunno about minmus but the mun has whacky physics on load due to procedural terrain.

i like having to bounce signals for transferring science. also the use for probes against kerbals is the fact that kerbals gain experience, and you don't necessarily want them stuck on million year voyages or at the risk of crashing in unknown territory.

I would be much more okay with life support than delayed actions. Not that probes don't already have a "life support" of sorts, so they get both at once. I can hurl more shit into space just fine.

Hmm... I wonder how long-lasting of a probe I could launch with only battery power and no power generation capabilities beyond maybe engines, and ideally not even that.

I bet I could launch enough batteries to power it all the way out of the Kerbol System, even with scientific transmissions along the way.

I've heard about this, I think the signal delay is going to be optional.

Honestly, why dont probe cores function as antena already.....

There what you use to control a probe, and given that there adding singals they can no longer be handwaved as robots, meaning they must have built in transmitters/recivers.

Especialy the stayputnik the reason for that kind of shape is anteana...

I think Remote Tech gives the probe cores some kinda small omni antennas or something.

I'm so proud of myself. I finally took the time to work out exactly why you want to launch your rocket East, and, in so doing, I also figured out which directions Normal and Anti-normal are.

Next important concept, how to work out delta-v requirements for a trip that visits multiple bodies.

Funny. Kerbalstuff went down permanently the same day I discovered CKAN is a thing. Fortunately, I was able to get all the mods I consider essential as well as the more substantial of the new mods I wanted to try. All that's left are some "prettifying" mods and Infernal Robotics, the latter of which I'm not sure I even want.

The big change I made was the addition of Kerbal Attachment System. I got it because I'm fed up with the way that bases and surface EV As don't really mean anything. I'm bored of missions that are nothing more than "Land, get science, recover science, EVA to plant flag and get surface sample, leave."

Get KIS too if you haven't already, it makes things with KAS waaay better.

Yeah, I got KIS too. My next mission is a big one to Duna, and I have just enough unlocked that I think I'll be able to make some useful stuff. I should do a few test runs projects to work out how to use them first though.

Any reason the rockets are so god damn floppy?

Poor physics coding, there's a mod for that

Or you can follow the pre-mod advice of "use more struts" if your some kind of anti-mod purist.
