General Sonic The Hedgehog thread

Neverwinter Nights had a pretty interesting way to depict that. A morality score of high 60’s low 70’s.

There is one character Shadow isn’t that different from in terms of mind set and personality that I could argue justifies Shadow as good under the low end of good (by Never Winter standards). Monsterverse Godzilla.

Both are grumpy, Good Is Not Nice, pragmatic, had a close friend/ally die right in front of them in a heroic sacrifice, motivated by big picture greater good protection of the world, indifferent to humanity at best, and often don’t see eye to eye with other good characters.

Godzilla despite his indifference has enough empathy to where he doesn’t intentionally cause destruction to human settlements or attack humans in general unless he has too (don’t hit his gills, that really pisses him off). Even when he has to, he tries to be as surgical as possible, hitting his target and leaving. Both times (Apex facilities and some nuclear plants) motivated by either hunting down a global threat or preparing to stop a world ending scenario…and he’s proven right everytime). That being said, his actions undoubtedly save TONS of innocent lives. Is generally considered Lawful Good (on the low end of good) for his generally selfless motivations.

Ladies and Gentlemen. Here's an Orchestral version of All Hail Shadow, based off the version of the theme from when he kicks Mephiles' ass at the end of 06.

There was no if Shadow. The whole damn world (or rather the fandom) did become your enemy for a bit. You were fighting everyone writing you off as Edgy the Hedgy.

You were also fighting Sega itself over how your character should be portrayed.

But you did fight. You fought to be the Shadow everyone remembered, and eventually you made your way back.

I've been playing Robotnik's Ring Racers (the follow-up to Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart(fan-made Sonic kart racer)). Hoo boy is it hard. I guess they assumed that anybody picking it up would already be familiar with SRB2K. I also can't stop playing. Its really good.

He'll always be Edgy the Hedgy to me.

Then put some gloves on, cause I think you and Edgy are gonna be fighting for a while.

It's a Fall Guys-esque game? As a huge fan of Fall Guys, that but Sonic sounds like a great time.

Dang, I never really thought before how well Sonic’s general gameplay fits the whole Fall Guys thing.

This ends up looking like an evolution of games like Sonic R or Dash, etc.

This might end up making me overlook my general apathy for that Fall Guys-esque genre of battle royale games.

The game framerate in the trailer looks awful.

I finished replaying the classic Sonic games. My rankings are, in order of best to worst- Sonic Mania, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Sonic 2, Sonic CD, Sonic 1, and Sonic Superstars (pending finishing that game).

Actually never mind. I think Superstars may just flat out be a bad game. The bosses are so bad that it frankly defies explanation how someone thought they were ok.

I still have love for Sonic Mania and Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Sonic 3 and Knuckles was my favorite Sonic game when I was a kid and Sonic Mania managed to bring back the classic feel of the games in a good way.

Speaking of Superstars being a bad game, here's a clip of the Super Gaming Bros. getting kaizoed during a transition during the final boss.

Yeah, you know a boss is atrocious if you die because of something you could never see coming. Like, seriously, how the hell are you supposed to know to run to the right after landing the final hit? Talk about arbitrary. That's about as fair as failing to parry an attack because the windup for it is so obscenely long and the hitbox makes no sense. Yes, I'm still mad about that even after the patch. The only way it could be worse is if lives existed. Imagine those guys were on their very last life and that happened. That would be enough to drive even the most sane person ever crazy.

I will never understand Sega giving the sequel to Mania to Arzest, Naoto Oshima helping found the studio or not. They have no idea what they want their games to be, are merely competent at level design, are known for sequels that just repeat the original, and just made Balan Wonderworld. Sonic Superstars is, unsurprisingly, a game with no idea what it wants to be, has level design that is competent but unmemorable and often annoying. And it certainly is a Sonic Mania level pack with tacked on emerald powers. On top of all of that, the game has a real lack of polish in terms of gameplay and especially presentation. The game is just aggressively mediocre, like most Arzest games. It's better than Balan Wonderworld and its a competent experience. That is all I can say positively thus far.
