Just because Frontiers was good doesn't mean it didn't have tons of issues that could and should be improved.
It was a great first attempt at the new gameplay style (definitely a better first attempt than Unleashed or Lost World), but it was still very clearly a first attempt. The whole point of games like Frontiers is to set up a template that they can then hone into something even better.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.X6 Oh no. Frontiers rocked and is a return to form for 3D sonic.
But it still has some wonky gameplay in some places, does it not?
I'm saying they need to take what worked, and improve upon it. We know they're making sure not to rush their games anymore, so all they need to do is find any flaws in frontier and work on improving those.
They made a good game, now is the chance to make a better game.

One Strip! One Strip!I'm not saying that it doesn't have issues that could be refined and improved I'm just saying that when you describe it as making it good, it sounds as if you're implying that sonic frontiers wasn't good to begin with.

Fair enough. Not my intention.
One Strip! One Strip!Game could use momentum.
So hey, good news, Sega's got a nice base to launch off of with Sonic Frontiers! Got a good feeling about Sonic games going forward.
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious...And this time I'll get Sonic Frontiers 2 (tentative title) on PS5.
Part of me is tempted to get the first game on it just to get another Platinum trophy, like I did with the PS4 version.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.Ooooh, a better Frontiers? Count me in.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.I'm not sure if this is the right place to make this question but, do you think a frontiers style gameplay could work for a Flash game?
I mean, maybe the point is that while pointing the flaws can be fine, it shouldn't take a damn page long to state why instead of the positives. Ergo, Accentuate the Negative should be less frequent in here.
It's a stretch to call any of these reactions Accentuate the Negative, so no.
Again, I have to reiterate that an excited reaction to how a sequel can improve on the first game and slamming the first game are not the same thing, and acknowledgement that the first game had things that could be be improved shouldn't be treated that way in the first place.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I've said multiple times that Frontiers was a step in the right direction. Honestly just hearing that they're building off of the last title instead of starting from zero in a new direction is such a relief.
Alright, it's just that I think that posts commenting on the positives should be just as longer as commenting on the flaws so I doesn't feel unequal.
Oh, if we're getting a Frontiers 2, I want a different supporting cast. Make good on the group properly splitting up at the end while also giving the spotlight to some less conventional characters.
Unlikely, but itd be really nice.
Oh man. A Frontiers-style reinvention of one of the Classic game-worlds with all of the Zones translated into different regions of this vast BOTW-esque map would be Shut Up and Take My Money hype all on its own.
Imagine getting to visit the long-destroyed ruins of the Death Egg. (Pretty sure its final resting place is Angel Island, which means it's chilling out just offscreen any time Knux is doing his thing.)
Sonic duking it out with Metal Sonic only for a half-destroyed, shredded and tattered Mecha Sonic to activate and crawl out of the ruins like a robot zombie.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.x7 It doesn't have classic momentum.
If I do a spindash I shouldn't keep spinning at a set speed regardless of the terrain or need a Boost to go fast. Part of the fun of Sonic isn't just speed, it's building speed and maintaining it.

It might seem like these posts are Accentuate the Negative, but I'd argue they're a testament to how well liked Frontiers was. All of these posts are expressing excitement towards a sequel specifically because they thought Frontiers was good, but with some things to improve and build off of. That's partly what makes the idea of a sequel so exciting, for me at least, Frontiers was incredible, with fun gameplay, an engaging story, great writing of characters (with Knuckles and Tails especially feeling like returns to form), so imagine how great it would be if it was built on and improved further.
Funnily enough, if Sonic Team commits to the IDW comics being canon, we do have a canon continuation for Mecha Sonic.
It's actually a fun opposite to Metal Sonic's story, where he's abandoned by Eggman for being a failure, but (minus a couple programming hitchups) builds his own new life as the guardian of a community of other abandoned robots. Whereas Metal Sonic's approach to abuse and abandonment at Eggman's hands is generally to redouble down on his hatred.
And, oh man. Seeing Scrapnik Island in a game would be freaking amazing.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Scrapnik Island as a horror game would be pretty cool.
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."Maybe? The twist with Scrapnik Island is that it looks spooky but everyone there is actually very nice, and while Mecha goes a little horror villain for a while its only because of a programming glitch that gets fixed.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I made a scrapnik Mecha Sonic out of Plasticine. I sent it to IDW, I hope it ends up accepted for its fan art section.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.https://www.cbr.com/line-it-is-drawn-sonic-and-friends-week/ Tony Stark building Metal Sonic is something I didn't know I needed.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I loved that joke in "Sonic Frontiers" when Sage asks Sonic what his end goal is, and he took it literally by saying sometime's it's a spinning post while it's a giant ring.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.
I know what could be the best thing to add to the next sonic open world, more characters, the world in frontiers felt really empty, an open world in my opinion is more interesting when it was people, towns and cities to explore rather than just empty plains with nothing but enemies, some walking rocks and your friends in cyber ghost form.
