Frank finally ends up JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope and goes on his most brutal rampage yet, culminating in him coming within a hair's breath of murdering an unarmed teenage member of a white supremacist group that hadn't actually committed any crimes before other heroes intervene and arrest him. While imprisoned and awaiting sentencing, the heroes individually give Frank a ''scathing'' TheReasonYouSuckSpeech, outlining exactly how selfish and hypocritical his "crusade" against crime really is, that his actions were never about "righteous vengeance", but sating his own bloodlust, and that he's no better than the criminals he's killed. All of this is capped off by Frank's newly resurrected wife confronting him and making it clear that she never wanted any of this, that she is horrified and disgusted that countless have died in her and her children's names, and that she doesn't want anything to do with him anymore and has liquidated all his assets, safehouses and equipment to charity. This finally breaks Frank, who makes a DealWithTheDevil to be transported to another world to start over, not as an avenger, but a ''protector'' and has seemingly ditched the Punisher name for good.
