X-Men '97 (Disney +): Continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series

Demayo is available now. Though depending on why he was fired, that probably won't happen.

For reference, there's four confirmed writers on '97 so far.

• Beau DeMayo - Came over from Moon Knight, writing the third episode "The Friendly Type", while also producing the first three episodes. (He wrote Episodes 1-5, 8)
• Charley Feldman - Better known for their (award winning) contributions on Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock ^note Which is by the way still on-going and trapped in Apple TV jail; this revival is excellent and she's two-for-two on that front. and The Owl House. (She wrote Episodes 3-4, 6-7 and acts another supervising producer).
• JB Ballard - Writer room assistant on Moon Knight. (He wrote Episode 7 )
• Anthony Sellitti - Only mainstream writing credit is this series; they were indie prior. (He wrote Episode 8)

So funny enough, Sellitti and Ballard follow the established Marvel Studios method of taking relative unknowns/indie talent to work on bigger projects. Also, this series' writing naturally feels like DeMayo's baby, but Feldman has wrote her fair share of episodes (Episode 7, "Lifedeath – Part 2", being her notable solo act).

One thing I like, which was also established on What If…? (2021) in that series' documentary, is that Marvel Studios actively hires and trusts people already experienced in animation to work on these projects. Hence why Jeff Trammell (Craig of the Creek) is showrunning the upcoming Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series.

...Okay, they got Moon Knight writers on board... shit, count me in.

(Context: Moon Knight, in my eyes, is fantastic, every single episode was worth it in my eyes... so if some of those writers are here? Shit, I'm considering watching this show even more now.)

I wonder because it was clearly defined as seperate from the MCU, these writers were not constrained by the people around them to write in the style of the MCU (havent watched Moon Knight but I can guess the usually quips are there)

The much maligned MCU quips... are in very sparing doses with Moon Knight, mercifully enough. They aren't afraid at all to override the quips, nor are they afraid to portray the events as genuinely traumatizing for the main protagonist.

Why is Logan saying he needs to have a talk with Hank about his taste in women considered Hypocritical Humor?

It may be that Logan is self aware and can see Hank making the same mistakes. Plus, Hank's other love interest in this series was a girl with a mutant hating father that he went on a berserker rampage (that made Wolverine say dude take it easy) for.

So Logan may be looking at it from the angle of dude, don't be me. I don't want to be me.

Just saw a new clip, it spoils a few major things, and Demayo didn't help with his recent tweet suggesting we all rewatch Pryde of the X-Men

Xavier has a talk with President Kelly about putting faith in his team as they all suit up for a final battle. They're all wearing their classic Byrne/Claremont outfits. Jubilee also burns the card with Roberto's phone number, indicating that he is the one that turns to Magneto

Anyone kind of weirded out by the amount of spoiler previews and "reading recommendations" from the ex-x-showrunner there are?

I want to avoid spoilers but am very weak willed lol. (No one's fault but mine of course)

Why was he fired anyway?

There are rumors it was was either because he was difficult to work with or because he had an Onlyfans, but neither of those have been confirmed as the reason why, as far as I know.

Small corection, Onlyfans rumor is that he used it to promote his disney work, which is not exactly the best or most appropriate place to do that. As stated, it seem to be just rumors and their parting seems to be on good terms.

with spoiler prewievs, not exactly weirded out, it happens. Reading recomendations for things they are adapting, is weirder but I think it is just him wanting to hype fans up and not thinking about spoilers. They did make some big changes, so it isn’t like issues are spoiling exactly what happens.

It was apparently a combination of the following:

1) Him becoming increasingly difficult to work with on a daily basis.

2) Him apparently posting a really graphic sexual joke involving Goofy on his OnlyFans account

Some suspect the "hard to work with" rumor could be just "had troubles with the execs".

Is that not usually what that means?

There are exceptions but said exceptions are usually prima donna directors (like David O. Russel) or prima donna performers. Often though, "hard to work w/" is a smear used by execs as payback for creatives & employees not bowing to their wishes. The most prominent examples are all the women who adamantly refused to sleep w/ Harvey Weinstein and whom he failed to bully into sleeping w/ him.

Unless the other writers come forward and say something negative about Beau DeMayo, execs being unable to control him sounds like a more plausible reason. While I know about his OF account, there's also the matter of who's spreading the allegations that he was "difficult to work w/" and w/c website reported that.

If there are ND As involved, we might never know for certain what happened.

True. I'm just suspicious on the "hard to work w/" rumors, being a Gay African-American involved w/ a work as unapologetically pro-Civil Rights and anti-bigotry as X-Men, it paints a target on DeMayo's back by certain scumbags who keep harping that female and minority creatives whose "politics" they disagree w/ as "hard to work w/"
