Maybe they don't want to do too much Deadpool when he's got another movie coming soon.

Deadpool not being in 97 isn't a big deal.

Also I saw a post saying that the X-men are now children of a divorce.

Didn't Deadpool only appear in voiceless cameos in the original show anyway? I couldn't see him showing up unless we got a lot more Cable-centric plotlines.

Yeah Deadpool did show up as Morph multiple times as Morph ragged Wolverine on his unknown past, implying Deadpool was part of it. Be nutty if the reason why Disney forbade Deadpool was because it might have to do with Deadpool and Wolverine. Or maybe they didnt want 97 to be seen as a tie-in that you have to watch to understand the movie. Disney sure as hell doesnt want to repeat that

Was it Marvel who forbade it or was it Disney?

I assume if DP ever appears he'll be voiced by Nolan North whose pretty much THE animated voice for Deadpool.

[up][up] literally. It is metal.

He is the Master of Magnet after all.

As an aside, I do wish the framing couldve let Xavier argue against a Magneto a bit better. It really seems like, for the moment at least, they're trying to make Magneto look like he's right. When isn't his plan to kill everyone on earth so he and mutantkind can live on an asteroid? Did I misread that?

More or less. It's assumed he's going to go around recruiting before time runs out, but the X-men jumped right to the boss battle before he could try.

[up] Depending on how literally you take the X-Men, there was 12 hours to go at the start of the episode and 'less than hour' when Xavier is talking to Kelly immediately before the attack.

So Mags doesn't exactly seem to be an hurry to save mutants.

The deadline is for the point where the magnetosphere is damaged beyond Magneto's ability to repair it, not the point where everyone dies.

Magneto has plenty of time, the rest of the world does not.

Given the collapse of civilisation is going to mean chaos, blamed on Mutants and probably you know lead to riots, lynching, purging and so on.

Everyone may not be dropping instantly dead at the end of that time limit but he's not exactly got time to be leisurely about it either.

eta: How badly would the loss of the magnetosphere be, realistically? Would the Earth be toasted in short order by radiation?

Even by Mag's standards and goals. His current actions seem more about rage and revenge than mutant survival. He could flown his asteroid to Genosha rather than The Mansion and got a shit ton of recruits maybe actually a viable population rather than... two people.

Scientifically speaking, the magnetic field suddenly disappearing isn’t ideal but it’s not a sudden apocalyptic disaster

I don’t know that the show is sticking that closely to actual science. But the major effects: more space radiation hitting Earth, electrical systems messing up, navigation messing up, and the possible loss of the atmosphere to solar wind - although that’s a longer term concern

I guess a bigger concern would be over what Magneto did to the core in order to just turn off the magnetosphere "forever". If he stopped the spin maybe there'd be some weird extra effects. I keep seeing that the earth stopping its rotation would be instadeath for most living things, but I dunno about the molten insides alone stopping. Bad movies about restarting them? [lol]

I was wondering why the arcade Xmen games havent be rereleased to coincide with the show, but I remember tieins arent as prevalent anymore and that it being easily available officially might devalue the arcade cabinets that were reissued

Speculation for the finale: If you want to prove Magneto is not right, you need the humans to be making steps towards human-mutant relations of their own free will.

Like we need President Kelly to take action regardless of polling. from the comics: it would also mimic the end of comics OZT which was ended by SHIELD after US government revoked Bastion's authority.

So my thinking is. Xavier mindwipes Magneto, returns the magnetosphere undoes the EMP before the other team deals with Bastion. The X-men reunite to fight Bastion but being overwhelmed.

Cue. A Helicarrier and Captain America leading a SHIELD force to the rescue. End on press conference of Cap and Cyke shaking hands. Genosha is part of the UN etc.

The only downside would it would sideline the X-Men in their own finale.

I don't think this will actually happen but I think something like it should. The dream needs some validation.

How is that book going to cover Genosha?

[up] My guess is that they won't. They're probably only using the character lineup, designs, and branding of X-Men '97, and are otherwise going to go into the absolute basics of who the X-Men are, what they do, and why they do what they do.

If Genosha even gets mentioned, it'll probably be as an example of how humans often distrust and hate mutants for being different, to the point of having done bad things to them (which then motivates mutants like Magneto to do bad things to humans, setting a Cycle of Revenge in motion that hurts both humans and mutants), with no real specifics given (which could also fit its more Apartheid South Africa-esque incarnations in the '80s-'90s and TAS, for example).
