Magneto's obviously in the wrong because Kill Em All is obviously a stupid response that will get mutants caught in the crossfire. Xavier, besides his comic fuckery, is generally seen as too naive and unwilling to take hard stances in favor of working towards peace naturally.

A post I saw today specifically brought up Cerebro in relation to this. Theoretically, Xavier could slowly nudge humanity towards world peace and tolerance, he just wouldn't because that's a violation of autonomy on a global scale. But regardless of the morality, it technically could work.

I think it's an idea mostly propped up by Status Quo Is God because comicbooks never end there can never be a definitive answer one way or the other.

Interesting that the show is using both Magnus and Erik for his name. I thought TAS only used Magnus because at that point he has no "official" name yet, and Rogue using "Erik" was one of the retcon like they did with his helmet.

People are already calling Onslaught will be in the finale which I dont think will be a role. Show up to tease the next season, sure but a central final villain? Gonna Doomsday this Batman v Superman

Also, Morph will be an excellent addition to an Xmen live action. Like in this show, they could cameo any other Xmen mythos through Morph and no be forced to sprinkle so many characters like the Fox movies.

I, like many, was expecting Rogue to take Colossus's defector role, but I wasn't expecting them to adapting that moment from Fatal Attractions until at least next week. Still, I enjoyed this episode. That said, given how little time they have in-universe, I really hope they don't pull an Apokolips War next week.

How are they wrap this up in around under 30 mins. Unless they pull a shocker by the last ep being an hour, I am crossing for a good landing

@Emerald Emperor There was surprisingly enough moment like that in old The X-Men Vs. The Avengers mini-series when Magneto was reformed and was going in be put on trial (Not the famous X-Men 200 one) where he figured out how to create brainwashing device that can remove all prejudice. He decided to ask Captain America if he approves and after Cap tells him that he believes in sanctity of the individual, Magneto uses device on him to destroy all his anti-mutant prejudice and asks again. Once Captain shows that his opinion didn't change, Magneto destroys the device and surrenders.

Would it work? I've seen this take before, that Xavier could end prejudice but doesn't because he cares too much about his morals, but it never made sense to me. Mind controlling the entire planet would be incredibly difficult and require a great deal of power even with Cerebro. And there are various ways to resist telepathy in the Marvel universe. And the plan would have to work perfectly on the first try because the second it gets out that Xavier tried to brainwash all of humanity, everything mutants fighting for their rights accomplished is getting thrown out the window and Xavier himself would be either killed or sent to the Negative Zone or some other Hellhole Prison. Even if nothing goes wrong what happens when Charles dies?

[up]I read an issue (written by Ben Raab) where Exodus tried that on a small scale in Genosha and it worked for a time until his mind control eventually slipped and as soon as it did, the island immediately descended into civil war. That issue also loosely adapted Romeo & Juliet in the form of a Mutant and human falling in love for real but they both got lynched by the warring mobs when Exodus lost control. The whole ordeal devasted him but the next writer (Chuck Austen) who got hold of him tossed all that aside so he can write him as a regular supervillain again.

EDIT: Wait, upon double-checking the timing, Tony Bedard wrote Nocturne leaving the Exiles then Chuck Austen was the one to add her to Exodus' Brotherhood while resetting him back to factory settings.

Moondragon took over an entire planet once. It was a lot of work and it blew up in her face and then blew up in the planet's face.

Trying to enforce a mutant-human peace through mind control is destined to end badly.

Not least of all because it gives free ammo to everything the mutant-haters and mutant-supremacists were both using to justify their actions.

Man, that's one of the far more insidious elements that folks at Marvel never seem comfortable addressing: the fact that Marvel and DC comic storylines aren't ever supposed to end, really just hammers in this unexpectedly dour, cynical and grim message that xenophobia is never going to end. If it was ever allowed to, if mutants and humanity finally co-existed, getting along, there'd be no further justification for X-Men stories. And we can't ever have that.

I think, that for all the !@#$-ups Xavier has tried, even he knows mind control everyone everywhere into not being an asshole is unfeasible in the long-term.

[up][up]To be fair, real world xenophobia isn't ever going to end either as long as there's humanity, unless you believe in a religious eventual Coming of the Lord that will fix it.

[up] True. Even if all goverments in Marvel universe sudenly declare that mutants are full citizens not to be hated and feared, there would still be bunch of bigots who will continue as normal. That’s not to take into account fact that preaching something and actually practicing it are completely different.

They focus on the fear aspect, what could happen to humanity against Mutant powers, but have they tried the jealously angle, where humans are against Mutants because they wish THEY were the ones with the powers instead and would gleefully abuse said powers.

[up][up][up]Still, i think it would be different between how things are going now in X-Men comics (where damn near every human wants to genocide mutants and if the character is human than they are 100% a bigot or in general evil in some way). Bigotry never is going to end, but it can be lessened.

I'm having a bit of a disagreement on the character pages, should Cable's folder be on the main X-Men page or Other Heroes? I would say the latter unless he gets promoted to the opening credits next week, since he currently seems like a temporary guest-star/ally like Forge.
