Looks like it’s skipping PS 4 and might also be skipping Switch for the Switch 2/Nintendo’s next console.
So why are these formerly Xbox exclusive games are now coming to the PS 5?
A combination of sales for the Series S/X not being so hot (or at least a distant third from the competition) and the fallout from the Actibliz acquisition, from what I understand at least.
I don’t think they’re gonna go the way of Sega quite yet but there are certainly signs
Not just this, but this is after the Series x and Series S have been both heavily discounted and yet still don't sell as well as the PS 5.
Personally, I always felt the Series S was a mistake and it should have just been a discless version of the Series X like what Sony did with the PS 5.
Watch SymphogearAt least according to the podcast last week, this was never meant to be exclusive forever. Feels like a Deathloop situation to me. In any case, glad more people will get to enjoy the awesomeness :)
Really hoping we get a sequel someday, now that the game is moving to a bigger audience.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Yeah, about that.
Microsoft: announces and releases Hi-Fi Rush on the same day without warning to critical acclaim.
Also Microsoft: kills Tango Gameworks without warning to critical dismay.
(*punches a pillow in frustration*)
I am BEYOND pissed at Microsoft.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.to Microsoft: and fuck you as well.
After 10 year plus years I have the confidence to be here. Let's give it EVERYTHING we've got! It's...PUNISHMENT TIMEOn one hand I think closing a studio just because they released a stinker (Particularly if it's a stinker because of dumbass mandates) is terrible, but now we're at the point they're closing studios that just released a major critical and commercial success huh.
The execs demand blood.
So, by Microsoft's logic, Hi-Fi Rush isn't a blockbuster hit to them?
B to the RUH.
Cant wait for Obsidian to close when Avowed doesn't sell like 5 billion copies.
Although chances are Microsoft wouldn't know Nintendo's potential announcements, Microsoft closing these studios the same day Nintendo releases their fiscal report, planning a June Direct and officially confirming their next console reveal within the year gives off vibes of E3 with Sega's bad presentation followed by Sony's "$299" and literally dropping a mike for the PS 1.
-Witty line-Just the cynical business of hiring and firing to make things look good for shareholders as explained by Moonie here in this video.
Using Mario in the thumbnail? I mean correct me if I'm wrong but isn't ninty the major gaming company that hasn't launched a torrent of layoffs recently?
Man and I thought Blizzard laying off tons of people while having record-setting revenue in 2018 shook me
I can already hear Matt Mc Muscles typing away for his next Wha Happun? video.
-Witty line-This is especially maddening considering the reports that Microsoft was happy with the performance of Hi-Fi RUSH. Like this wasnt even a case of the usual "sold below our delusionally astronomical expectations" farce.
x4
It's part of the irony since I don't think they've EVER done any mass layoffs at least not without giving compensation bonuses as well as even keeping people(this is more independent contractors thought which is a whole different can of worms). He legit talks about the mechanisms for this type of thing and how you can damn near perfectly predict them.
Bit of a TL;DW is that a lot of the gaming industry is taking cues from big tech and immitating a lot of its wave riding practices in terms of investment stuff.

An amoeba-sized part of me is still hoping Hi-Fi Rush gets revealed for Switch on the June Direct.
(I know I'm barking up the wrong tree, just let me live in denial...)
Which is a terrible idea, because Big Tech's business models only barely relate to how video game companies operate. Yes, both industries are at the cutting edge, but Big Tech relies heavily on investments into future technologies, while gaming has far more in common with the rest of the media industry. Yes, Big Tech and gaming are both chasing the next "killer app" in their field, but in entirely different ways, and it's not as mandatory for gaming.
Long story short, Big Tech should not be emulated by anyone, and the "find any excuse to fire everyone to make shareholders happy" is just more stock market bullshit.
I have a PS5 and am pleased.
