Do we know what movie the guy was talking about THEN?

I mean there’s not much point to it. The review would happen eventually and the score would go down on the aggregate sites…

This kind of stuff can equally be a punitive action taken by the studio to prevent a critic from being up-to-date. In that kind of industry, being late to the punch more often than not means that you lose out on a lot of views, clicks, whatever, because people gravitate to those who talk about it first.

Punative? As in a punishment? Paramount is punishing critics? Before they can badmouth the movie?

I mean, I don’t know why they don’t have faith in the film. Some European critics have already spoken highly of it.

Yes, if a critic has criticized a previous movie by the studio, the studio might decide not to give that critic ahead viewing so that he can't review it at the same time as everyone who is invited to see it.

It's the same reason videogame critics who don't give good scores to games from certain companies will stop receiving review copies from that company.

They're going to focus on critics who have given them good reviews in the past as a reward and an encouragement to continue giving them good reviews.

You think that will work? It kinda makes me nervous about the authenticity of most reviews now.

Depends on what "will work" means for you. Early reviews are likely to be skewed in a given movie's favor, but if you don't care about seeing a movie day 1, then it won't matter because anyone can give their reviews then.

I don’t think you need to doubt “most” reviews. In fact, probably best to take the critic’s opinion in good faith unless something egregious happens. Far too often, I’ve seen people resort to bad faith over disagreements of opinion or what could be explained through a bit of research.

I have a feeling this “movie” (gotta put quotations cause of morals) might have us see an extra ear or two on the characters

Maybe they are banking on hate watching from the bad publicity? There's a limit to how much bad publicity can be profitable as Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League shows.

Getting back to the IF discussion from earlier, yeah I’m seeing some early reactions and they are positive so far. Depending on how the rest lean, I’m gonna feel really good.

It really hammers the point that this is just gonna be a flop, as what everyone sees so far is an ugly cliched movie with cringy dialog and the AI thing just pisses people off.
