they treated Marina being the tutorial boss as a spoiler, which effectively kept Order and, by extension, Smollusk completely out-of-focus.

Smollusk only appears after you beat the mode once, and it is the main villain. of course it would be treated as a spoiler.

Honestly this series is horrible at hiding spoilers like one badge has Mr grizz on it, the post of OTH on Twitter post SO, just make a smollusk amiibo par for the course.

Marina's role in Side Order is less of a spoiler than Smollusk's existence. Afaik they still haven't mentioned Smollusk outside of the occasional interview, but they only waited about a week or two before breaking the "Marina embargo" on promo materials

Which I still think was kind of ill-conceived. It makes sense they'd want to avoid blowing the plot, but the near-total lack of Marina in any of the marketing and the initial setup being her trapped at the top of the tower convinced some very silly people that her role in SO was comparable to Callie's in Splatoon 2 I'm not convinced it wasn't at some point

Relevant to Splatoon: After June 10, you will no longer be able to post screenshots or send friend requests through Twitter.

What makes this especially relevant to Splatoon is that in Splatoon 2, you will no longer be able to post through the mailbox, and that characters that appear and posts that are displayed in the Square will be replaced by data already prepared within the game software.

That also means you're limited to what the pre-set posts have & what you can find from other cephalopods online for Murch's gear order service.

For Splatoon 3, you now post directly to Nintendo's servers, which allows kids to post. It says that posts by those under 13 will not be shown to anyone though, which kills the point for them of even posting!

I still remember that one old post of an Arknights crossover I found via YouTube video dating back to 3's first year. Hope nothing bad happened to the one that made it and that Nintendo's decision to sever ties with Elon Musk's mutilated baby will affect posts like those.

i think it's stupid that posts for Splat 2 are shutting down even though they have a perfectly usable method to post, which they are going to use for 3.

i understand that keeping servers up is not cheap, and they do not get anything back, but still.

That's a pretty big reason, especially since they likely want to push the remaining players over to the new game. Splatoon 2 came out in 2017. Splatoon 3 came out in 2022. I don't know how many players are left playing the previous game, but I imagine it's not selling well anymore, and nudging people to the new one is a way to get the remaining extra sales from those who weren't planning to migrate over.

Yeah, Splat 2 stopped getting regular content updates in 2021. Splatoon 3 is still getting them, even if they're winding down. I understand perfectly why they're not patching this feature into the older game, even if I don't like it

Same. Made another obligatory Arknights x Splatoon crossover post for the Splatfest.

I'm going to save the world so that those of ye who want to keep living yere lives, or who want to sort out yere bucket lists, will be able to do so.

Something I notice about the cosier apocalyptic fiction is that everybody is seemingly able to at least try to sort out their bucket lists and has no trouble living their lives as normal, even when those things involve electricity and petrol. Apparently, everybody who works at a power plant, refinery, or petrol station goes into work as normal and works a normal shift, instead of tending to their own bucket lists, having fun, or spending time with their families.

Also, Frye mentions maxing out her credit cards. That's weird, right? If the world is about to end, why do people still bother with money?

Dang, you're right: in fiction or in theory, people treat the end of the world as if it's just they themselves who are doomed, and no-one else will change their behavior in response to it.
